Greg Downing’s Garfield Trailer is finally out! “The shot I spent 2-3 months of my life working on was the first shot where you see Garfield dancing with Odie,” says Downing. There are three elements to this type of work: the live-action plate of the inside of the house, shot with traditional film; Odie (a real dog), shot dancing in front of a blue screen; and the 3D, computer-generated Garfield. Downing’s part was to light Garfield so he looks as though he were really in the living room.
The Petra Exhibit opened at the American Museum of Natural History in New York, featuring a Surround movie generated from Greg Downing’s panoramas of Petra. The Exhibit spans across three large projections screens, which you can see in the background in this image (the exhibition runs until July 6th and then will travel the U.S. for the next five years). Greg Downing will also be speaking at the 3D Festival in Copenhagen next May. Kevin Kratzke, of Kekus Digital, has posted a new version of the OS X Panotools plug-ins.
