NEW KARLINE RODEON PRO VR HEAD
by Michelle Bienias

10% Discount for all VRMAG readers (until 30-04-2005)
Order key: VRMAG-rodeon pro

The brand-new KARLINE rodeon pro VR head is motorized; its movements – horizontally and vertically – are controlled by the built-in electronics. It is destined for high-quality cylindrical and spherical panoramas and is a perfect tool for high-resolution multirows.

Another version was released in the spring of 2004 for small and middle-weight reflex cameras. The new pro, released at Photokina in Cologne in September, is slightly larger and heavier, yet it is easy to manage and transport. “The main difference, however, is that the pro supports the professional cameras. It is large enough to carry big cameras like the Canon 1DS Mark II and strong enough to lift up to 4 kg approx. The frame can be modified according to customer wishes, to adapt to special fabrications (e.g. even larger cameras...)”, writes Marc Kairies of MK Panorama Systeme.

Three in one:
1.) The KARLINE rodeon pro VR head turns almost any high-end digital camera
(e.g. the Canon EOS series, Nikon D series, Konica Minolta, Sigma etc.) into a real panorama machine.

2.) The VR head has a built-in control unit and, turning in the nodal point, captures the chosen motif fast and precise, horizontally and vertically. The camera release is perfectly timed – done is the picture series.

3.) The panorama software, e.g. Realviz Stitcher (with automatic mode), quickly knits your picture series into a 180° x 360° spherical panorama.

Digital Cameras
Use the KARLINE rodeon VR pro head to make panoramas for print or Internet; cylindrical, spherical, cubic or high-resolution mutirows (e.g. for zoom servers). Your “standard” digital camera is mounted on the KARLINE rodeon VR pro head so that its projection center coincides with the intersection of the turning axes (the nodal point).

How it Works:
The KARLINE rodeon VR pro head effects camera release automatically upon reaching each scheduled position. The software, e.g. Realviz Stitcher (with automatic mode), arranges your single pictures to form a full 180° x 360° spherical panorama. Of course you are free to use any stitching software you might prefer.

The built-in control unit offers eight programs (with memory function) – adjustable to your preferences – and is responsible for the following functions: horizontal and vertical angle, steps per angle, inclinations (e.g. for multirow), bracketing (1-8 exposures), timer (on/off), program memory for eventual repetitions, single pictures can be re-taken,
start/stop…
