What: The Wedding of Actress Nicole Kidman and Country Singer Keith Urban

This panorama shows the scene as guests arrived outside for Nicole Kidman's wedding to Keith Urban on June 25th. Newspapers across the globe reported how helicopters buzzed overhead and hundreds of people - including a throng of media cameras - lined the streets near the church in Sydney's beachside suburb of Manly as guests arrived in luxury sedans and minibuses.

How: Murphy used a Canon5D/10.5mm Nikkor/f4 at 1/160th at 640ISO to shoot this panorama. “The wedding was after dark and it was already pretty dark here,” says photographer Peter Murphy. “By the time the bride arrived half an hour later it was really dark -- darker than I could manage anyway -- darker than 1/30th at 1600ISO at f2.8 – which was a pity as I was in a good spot then. Photographers broke ranks from the barriers and surrounded her car.”

Murphy used his camera spinner gadget to take this shot on a monopod held above his head, in intermittent not continuous mode. “It is really handy … to guarantee stitchability of action scenes. Also it draws less attention - if there already is a lot of distraction – than turning myself around to get the shot.”
