EUROPE'S LARGEST POP FESTIVAL CAPTURED IN IMMERSIVE MEDIA
PRESS RELEASE
by Andras Frenyo

Budapest, Hungary, August 10-17, 2005 -- Sziget Festival 2005, Europe's largest pop festival is documented in unprecedented detail by international media group, Sziget 2005 Media Farm.

An international team of VR photographers gathered to produce the largest volume to date of 360 degree interactive panoramas and movies, photographs and video clips of the event taking place on a Danube island in the heart of the Hungarian capital. 'Sziget' means 'island' in Hungarian.

The media site, http://www.sziget2005.com continues to grow as new material is posted from several countries, homes to the contributing photographers - Hungary, Germany, the Netherlands, Austria and the U.S.A. The site has begun to incorporate panoramic images from the past four of the festival's thirteen years as well. Sziget Festival 2005 boasted some 60 venues and 200 acts from around the world in most every genre catering to all ages, genders and races who themselves had arrived from all corners of the globe. Visit http://www.szigetfestival.hu for program details.

At the heart of the media project, dubbed as 'Sziget 2005 Media Farm', are the breathtaking panoramic images which stand out in their abilities to capture the events amidst drastically varying lighting conditions and the tumultuously animated, uninhibited crowds and performers.

Perhaps the most exciting media format presented on sziget2005.com is the 360 degree panoramic video footage. The unique custom hardware assembled from a HDV camera and a convex mirror among other things, was contributed to the project by Concept Factory, a German advertising firm (http://www.conceptfactory.de).

Sziget2005.com hosts the largest collection of panoramic images of any festival produced and posted 'live' during its event. Visitors can sign a guestbook and send eCards of a selection of fun photos and artists' portraits from the festival.
