VRWAY PARTNERS WITH MUSIC LABEL MOTETTE URSINA FOR AROUNDER MILAN by Michelle Bienias Motette Ursina Psallite, of Duesseldorf, Germany is the premier worldwide organ and religious music label. Our sound consultant, Riccardo Studer, suggested that relevant holy music - specifically in a religious setting such as Milan's Duomo and basilicas - would add a deeper contextual and historical sense to the full screen panorama viewing experience. With that in mind, Marco Trezzini contacted Claudio Riva, who had collaborated with Motette Ursina to produce a CD performed by the Duomo Chapel Choir, and obtained permission to use selected recordings as background music in some of the Arounder Milan virtual tours. Claudio Riva, deputy chapel master of Milan’s Duomo Chapel Choir, kindly selected music he thought appropriate to each setting. The music was taken from the following Motette Ursina production, performed by the Cappella Musicale del Duomo and directed by Claudio Riva:
- 50731 MUSIK IM MAILÄNDER DOM - Music in the Duomo of Milan, choir and organ available at € 17.40 About Motette-The History of an Idea Organ, Gregorian chant and bells are three fields of musical culture with great tradition that require special attention as well as a professional approach. But unfortunately record companies - before the founding of Motette in 1976 - used to handle this music in an amateurish style, or simply treated it with neglect. Therefore, it had proven impossible to optimize customer service or even establish a global trademark. Accordingly, Motette worked hard to provide its customers with recordings of the most important organs, optimum recording technology as well as (the most suitable) outstanding performers. Quality standards like these are indispensable if you want to become the world’s leading name in organ music - and this is exactly what the company has become by now.Today, fans of organ music all over the world mention the name of Motette with great respect - for this distinguished label is not only the leading company among the manufacturers of organ- and plainchant-CDs as for the number of editions, but also one of the world’s best known publishing houses specializing in this music. In 1976, Motette was founded in a small basement flat in Wiesbaden, but in 1987 moved to their present residence north of Düsseldorf (Lohausen). By then, sales were approaching the million DM limit, and Motette was swiftly becoming the Mecca for high-class international productions. Over time, Motette’s sound concepts were continually specialized and refined, while the number of recordings increased and the catalogue kept expanded. In 1994, the company supplemented its strategy by additionally taking over the label Psallite, which has become famous for its organ portraits.
