HERE COMES THE FLOOD
by Nina Ondine

A strangely beautiful view. The ancient colonnades and archways reflect in the watery streets of the city of Locarno, Switzerland.

Following a heavy downpour, which caused the waters of Lake Verbano to rise above its banks, the flooded cobblestone streets and piazzas turned into veritable canals. Due to the unstable weather the public spaces, usually domain of pedestrians and motorists, have turned into a web of accidental lagoons and waterways.

The heavy rainfall, which flooded the city and the surrounding area, lasted four days. More than 500 liters of water per square meter were registered during the incessant rain fall.
